How to setup your digital gold wallet

If you are new to setting up a crypto currency wallet to receive coins, such as PAX Gold, then this tutorial is for you. We will guide you through the process of receiving your first digital gold token and explain the pro’s en cons of holding your own coins.

Before we start

It is very important to understand that by creating a digital wallet you become the sole owner of your gold tokens. Nobody else is able to access your gold tokens. Therefore it’s important to create a backup of your wallet, as instructed by the wallet of your choice. If you do not create a backup and you lose your password, phone or laptop, there is no way of retrieving your gold again and it is lost for good. Even the wallet provider, Bitgild or Paxos will not be able to help you.

Remember: With great power comes great responsibility.

1. Setting up your wallet

Download Atomic wallet for desktop (win/mac) or phone (IOS/Android)

To receive your first gold tokens you will need a digital wallet. Since PAX Gold tokens are special tokens, you will need a wallet that accepts ER20 tokens. Hardware wallets (USB wallets) are the most secure wallets, and we highly recommend those if you are going to store a lot of wealth in your wallet because they add an extra security level.

However for this tutorial we will use the Atomic wallet, because we feel this is one of the most user friendly wallets out there.  Below we will list a few other wallets that you may use.

  1. MyEtherWallet
  2. MetaMask
  3. Ledger Nano S (highly recommended)

2. Find your wallet address

After downloading the Atomic wallet follow the instructions to set up your digital wallet. Once you are done, you are ready to order your first digital gold tokens.

After you have purchased PAX Gold at Bitgild we need to send you the gold token. In order to do that, we will ask you to send us your wallet address. You can find your wallet address in the atomic wallet by clicking the plus sign “+” in the right upper corner as shown in the screenshot.

Click on the sign of a plus “+” in the right upper corner.

3. Send your wallet address

You will then see your ETH address in Atomic Wallet along with the instruction to send the desired token to your ETH address. Copy the string of numbers and letters that is shown under “Your ethereum address” and send it to [email protected] together with your order number that you have received in your email.

Simply click on your ETH address to copy it.

4. Receive your digital gold

We will send you a confirmation email once we have sent the PAX Gold to your wallet. If you restart the Atomic wallet, the PAXG will show up in your wallet as shown in the screenshot.

Your Pax Gold balance will be visible after we sent you the tokens.

5. Verify your digital gold

Now you have received your paxos gold, you might wonder how you can verify your gold. Head over to the gold allocation lookup page of Paxos and fill in the same ethereum wallet address from step 3 of this tutorial. For reference you can look up our balance by entering our ethereum address:
0x24581a3D06ce7186f8432A3722fc8C0399943412.

*Please note that the report is updated a couple of times per day. If you have just got your PAX Gold it can take a few hours before the report will show your allocated gold bar.

Verify your bars at the PAXG allocation page.
