What types of precious metals does Bitgild accept?

We buy back gold coins and bars, silver coins and bars, and platinum or palladium coins and bars. We do not accept gold jewelry or scrap gold. To check whether your specific item qualifies, simply use the search bar on our homepage - it shows all the coins and bars we currently accept.

How do I get paid in Bitcoin?

After we receive and verify your metals, we'll pay you in Bitcoin. During checkout, you'll enter the Bitcoin wallet address where you'd like to receive your payout. This is final and cannot be changed, so please double-check it. Once the order is processed, we'll send your BTC directly to that wallet.

How is the Bitcoin rate determined?

We place a market order based on the BTC/EUR rate at Kraken (a major crypto exchange) at 9:00 AM CE(S)T the morning after we receive your metals. This ensures transparency and a fair market value for your payout. We always share the exact exchange rate used in your order confirmation.

When will I receive my Bitcoin payout?

You’ll receive an email confirmation with all payout details once your BTC is sent. After the next-day market order is executed, we typically send the Bitcoin to your wallet within a few hours. Timing can vary slightly based on blockchain congestion.

Do I need to verify my identity?

Yes. We require a one-time online identity verification after your first order to stay compliant with local financial regulations. The process is secure, quick, and only needs to be done once.

Can I bring my gold or silver in person?

Yes. We offer in-person drop-offs at our locations in the Netherlands: Baarn and The Hague. You can schedule an appointment to bring your metals to us directly. ⚠️ Please note: We do not pay Bitcoin on the spot. Payouts are always processed online after your metals are received, verified, and the next-day BTC market order is executed.

What happens if I send my metals by mail?

Once you complete your order, we'll provide you with a UPS shipping label automatically. You can drop off your package at a UPS Access Point or request UPS to pick it up from your home or office. We'll notify you when your shipment arrives and has been verified. Your Bitcoin will then be ordered and sent the next morning at 9:00 AM CE(S)T using the Kraken BTC/EUR rate.

Can I change my Bitcoin wallet address after submitting it?

No. The wallet address you enter during checkout is final and cannot be changed later for security reasons. Always double-check your address before completing the order.

Does Bitgild charge any fees?

Yes, we charge a small processing fee of 0.4% for Bitcoin payments. During checkout, you will see a clear breakdown of all costs and the exact amount in euros that we will offer for your gold or silver. This EUR amount will then be converted to Bitcoin at the current exchange rate at the time of payout and sent to your provided Bitcoin address.

Is it safe to send my gold or silver by mail?

Yes. We use UPS for all shipments and provide you with a prepaid, insured UPS label for secure delivery. You can either drop your package at a UPS Access Point or schedule a pick-up. While we insure shipments during transit, we still recommend packaging your items securely and using tracking.
