United States Mint

The United States Mint is the official mint of the United States. Established in 1792 through the Coinage Act of 1792, this mint mints the Silver Eagle, the Golden Eagle and other investment coins. Especially popular is the Silver Eagle, which is the best-selling silver troy ounce coin in the world.

American Eagle

The gold American Eagle coin is one of the best-known coins of the US Mint. It is the official gold coin of the country and is minted every year in 91.67% pure gold (22 carats). The Golden Eagle is a very well-known gold investment coin and because the coin is composed of a small proportion of copper, it has a red-coloured appearance, where coins minted in 24-carat gold look distinctly different. However, the gold Eagle weighs slightly more and on balance contains exactly the same amount of gold, namely 1 troy ounce of pure gold. Incorporating a small portion of copper in the coins makes them more solid. This is because pure gold is very fragile.
